SING IT WITH ME! If you could hie to Portland in the twinkiling of an eye.....

Last Monday was super boring- it's incredible how only a few people in a zone of missionaries can change and the whole dynamic flips. Sister Tui and I, however, insisted on playing sports- woo hoo for being the cool kid who can't play very well at all. Sister Tui and I talked afterward about how it's a good thing I don't get embarrassed easily because I do a lot of embarrassing things....
My beautiful companion is an extremely talented UKULELE PLAYER! So we borrowed one from a family in the ward and we wrote a song! Of course you can't hear how it goes but here are the lyrics!

Here in Anthem things are different
people have nice cars and big houses
but one thing we see is missing
and we'll tell you- here we are.
God, He knows you. He is listening.
You're His child and He loves you so,
and He knows you have a small hole,
and that's where the gospel goes.
We'll answer questions that you've never asked,
find the path you're already on.
Families can be together forever
and it starts with our song.
Joseph Smith, he was a prophet.
He restored the truths we lost.
Christ's church is the church we go to-
and it's free of any cost.
God's plan makes us happy.
It started long before your birth-
We told God that we would come here
and live our life on this Earth.
But the center of this message
is His Only Begotten Son,
by His grace and by His mercy
are we saved and loved as one.
Here in Anthem things are different,
people have nice cars and big houses.
But one thing we see is missing,
and we'll tell you- it is love.
LA LA LA LOVE LA LA LA LA LOVE
.....

It was a big hit! Hahah. We sang it at the zone conference for the President and everyone. It was so fun to see people's reactions because they could sympathize with exactly how we felt- things ARE different because of money, it takes a special wealthy person to be humble enough to listen to this kind of a message. I just love to sing so so much- I feel like my testimony can come across so much easier through music than just through words. I certainly love this gospel :) That's for sure!!

Okay- so there is this cute little family that lives in our complex that we see all the time and we really want to talk with them! haha. They are always just out of our reach, so to say, when we see them. The look like they have two boys about the same age and maybe another little baby in a stroller. They are just so tender!

Anyways- oh! We also got a referral from our Bishop this week. He said he talked to a protective grandma who was worried about one of her grandchildren. She is a convert to the gospel and she really wanted to give him the same opportunities that come through this church that she does- so Bishop set up an appointment with him so that he could get to know him a little better. The boy agreed to let missionaries come over. So we knocked on his door Thursday night and THE CUTE FAMILY ANSWERED THE DOOR!! Apparently the boy, Aaron, and his sister, the mom of the cute little family, are brother and sister! So we met them all! It was such a miracle. We have another appointment with them tonight :) I am so excited- for real! God answers prayers in the most round about ways sometimes!

I also had exchanges with Sister Schenk... The LAST exchange of my mission. Man, we have both grown so much. It was so incredible to be able to see how much, in just a year and a half, the Lord is able to work with us. We talked to tons of people and biked the whole day- OH AND I GOT SUNBURNED. For the first time on my mission, which is a blessing. I am sold on essential oils. I mixed some lavender with just normal lotion I had and it is tan already. I love it! :) I learned that I need a lot more faith than I have. And I am working on that!

OH how I loved this week- and OH how I love my companion :)

All my love,
Sister Fields

p.s. EVERYONE NEEDS TO WATCH THIS. Mom, you should show this for family home evening tonight! :) lds.org/church/share/goodness
SOOO GOOOOOOOOD! :D #ShareGoodness

Ether 12:27

I am seriously so lazy today. It's getting harder and hard to think of things to write home about.
Bullet point week? I THINK SO!

I taught gospel principles for the millionth time this past Sunday. I actually really love teaching the gospel. Just so everyone knows. You might even call it a passion. Or an obsession.

We went to Claim Jumpers with our Relief Society president on Thursday night. She is so fun to talk to. Her husband proposed to her when they weren't even dating, they were just good friends. She thought about it for a YEAR before saying yes. It was such a great story. :)

David Ortega's baptism was Saturday. That was a sacred experience. My favorite part was his testimony. He said he would pray every night no be led to the truth. Honestly, we had no idea what was happening between visits. it was a privilege to be able to go and to share my testimony with him. AND his family came!! :)

MY HALF BIRTHDAY was this week. I am officially 20 and a half y'all!! And my 17 months. That is insane.

I had a total epiphany this week about faith vs trust. It's amazing how God really requires so little from us. Just that we come to Him and trust that what He has done for us is truly for US then we are healed. I have seen Ether 12:27 (https://www.lds.org/scriptures/bofm/ether/12.27?lang=eng) in ACTION on my mission and in my personal life. I am so grateful this week for my Savior and for Him doing just that- saving me. There is a sweet spirit that comes into one's heart when they feel they have nothing left and God is holding their heart and hand in His.

Sister Tui had a sick day. Hence the epiphanies. I studied and cleaned all day long. That was refreshing, but I realized just how much I love to work in God's kingdom!

We started biking this week. Our ward mission leader's wife does a Pilates class every Wednesday morning. We go, and we take investigators with us. It was fun to get two hard workouts in one day. Sister Tui was given a bike from a sister that just left. She was so funny the next day trying to explain, in Samoan, the word "sore" to me. I was kind of mean and was teasing her. I told her I didn't know what she meant and that Americans don't get sore... hahaha. I know, I know. I told her sorry!

I don't think there is much more to report on. Just the day to day fun things.

I love you all,

OH! AND I FACETIME'D HOME TO WATCH ELI OPEN HIS CALLL!!!!!!! MILAN ITALY HERE HE COMES!!!!!

~Sister Fields

It seems like the whole world is ticking to a count down clock. It makes me dizzy...

So here is the news for my last transfer: there were so many changes in the mission! There is one companionship of Sister Training Leaders per zone, acting as a sort of sister zone leaders. So STLs will not be trainers anymore, which is fun because it spreads the responsibility. I think it will give more sisters the opportunity to have a voice in the mission :) Sister Tui and I are lucky to stay together in this area. A lot of sisters were split up from their six weeks old companions. There was a wave of emotion that swept over our mission. I am grateful to stay in this area. Even though it is difficult to find and teach here, we are working hard and we have faith that we will see the "fruits of our labors."
We taught a beautiful family this week! A couple of months ago we street contacted a lady named Sandy. I don't remember if I told the story but Sandy and her friend had recently gotten back from Book of Mormon: the musical, so they sang our names to us. It was so cute. We knocked on the door and she opened it and smiled the biggest smile. "Please come in, girls!" and she hugged us! I felt like I was walking into a part of my families home after a long time away from each other. She is so kind. We taught the Restoration. During the first vision her eyes were locked on mine and she got really teary eyed. She couldn't say anything more than wow. Over and over. Wow, wow, wow. Isn't that awesome? We showed her scriptures in the Bible that support the Book of Mormon and vice-verse. She was so impressed and accepted it all in!
A fun thing that happened this week was going to Red Robin. We got our transfer doctrine on Saturday and hear two other sisters talking about how they didn't have a dinner appointment. So we all planned to meet at Red Robin. One of the sisters, whom I love with my whole heart, goes home tomorrow. So before she came in we told the waiter it was her birthday... A small fib :P When she walked in the restaurant we all yelled happy birthday to her. (Shout our to mi hermanita Sister Furstenau!) I felt to like a real person again for a short time. Sitting around the table getting our mind off the stress of missionary work was so therapeutic for all of us, I think. :)
Oh! And we fasted on the 31st for miracles everyday in August! :) We know The Lord will hear our prayers. Sister Tui's poly-faith is literally the best thing that happened to me! She is so focused on doing what God wants done that there isn't room for anything else. She is incredible- and she is training me! We are going to work so hard these next two short weeks!!!
Another fun thing- we are teaching the Little family, meaning Lavern Little and her husband. She is 4'11". And her last name really is Little. I'm pretty much really happy whenever I think about that. It's the little things in life, right?
AND I FINISHED EVERYTHING FOR MY SCHOOL APPLICATIONS! I feel like a big girl. :) I am excited for this week. I just feel like things are just going to keep getting better and better. Thank you for listening to me rant about my weeks. It is so nice to be able to reflect on what has happened, count my blessings, and see how I can improve. Please keep the Paseo Verde ward in your prayers!
I love you all. Especially Mom and Dad, you are my favorites! Hope you have a miracle filled week.

OH! And my David is getting baptized on Saturday. I wrote a lot about him when I was serving in Sunrise. He is in my top five favorite people I have taught my whole mission. Sister Coltrin and I get to be companions again for a day and go to the baptism together. I am going to give the talk on the Holy Ghost. He is so dear to my heart. I am so happy to be a part of his re-birth day!!! :)

Con amour,
Sister Fields

The fact that Eli might get his call this week is making me scream! WOW! wow.

This week has been crazy. It actually rained for the first time in my whole mission yesterday. It has rained in other parts of the valley while I have been out but it POURED on us yesterday! We were walking in one of our a neighborhoods a few blocks away from our car when a HUGE crash of lightening and a loud roar of thunder suddenly happen right over us. And, just like in the movies, within seconds we were drenched. A little white car pulled over a few minutes later and unlocked the doors.
"Get in the car for crying out loud!" Our BISHOP yelled. It was one of the funniest moments of my whole mission. He drove us back to his house and the whole family sat on the back porch and watched the rain just pour down. I was actually cold, and I actually used a blanket. It got down to 78* I think... I just loved it. :)

Anyways-
I ate sushi this week. And yes, Mom, I took pictures to prove it.
We went laser tagging and mini-golfing as a district last week on P-day. I took second, first out of all the sisters. And Eli, there is proof of that for you! :)
This week we took the beautiful Ms. Gelabert out with us and she challenged us to test our faith and tell the Lord we want a new investigator before dinner (it was 3:30, so we had an hour and a half.) We started with a prayer and put our feet to the pavement. Lo and behold, we talked to a lady in her driveway about how Christ's church has been restored to the Earth through a prophet of God. She said "we have been looking for a church. We just moved here and need a place to plant our roots." She invited us to begin teaching her right there! I just LOVE how the Lord knows our hearts!

We are having to head out now. I thought I was typing fast enough to get it all in.. hm. There's always next week!
Love you all,
Sister Fields

I wanna be a skinny girl right now. I don't wanna wait until I'm home! (To the tune of I want to be a missionary now!)

Monday- we had a lesson with Grandpa Lloyd and finished the Restoration. He had NO problems with any piece and seemed to understand it all! :)
Tuesday- we read the Book of Mormon together to help him understand a little more about the story line. He was completely enthralled the whole time! :)
Wednesday- on exchanges Sister Tui taught faith, repentance, and baptism! Heralded the whole time about how excited he was for his re-birth day :)
Thursday- he didn't answer the phone....
Friday- his Sister from Utah called us and explained his hard situation. She went into details about his past and how he really needs the gospel in his life. Se cried and thanked us for all the help we have been. Patty called us guardian angels multiple times! It was incredible and Sister Tui and I were built up so much:)
An hour later Grandpa Lloyd called and dropped us...Sister Tui and I just sat in the car and cried. There is one thing in missionary work that you can never get over and that is being dumped when you know someone KNOWS that what we share is true. Rejection? That gets easy after the first month or two. Being tired? Your body adjusts to the schedule. Missing family? I've never loved Christmas so much. But when things like this happen it's so....heart breaking. Especially after praying and fasting for so long to find someone like him. He really needs the gospel, and it really needs him. We just love him with our entire hearts! It's weird to explain. I'm am so sure that Christ spent his whole life heart broken because He really could tell what this could do for people.
Anyways- that was a hard thing.

A highlight of the week was exchanges! Sister Rebekka Schenk is literally one of my best friends! She taught me how to get control of myself and how I can make myself happy.

SPEAKING OF HAPPY! Today for P-Day we went to play mini-golf and laser tag... I felt like a real person for a second. It was weird. Ad it was fun! I love our zone seriously. I think in real life we would all try to be friends... But not really. Anyways. I wish I could explain the feeling.

I am doing well. The weather is bearable but extreme! My clothes fit. I don't smell. All is well, all is well!
