I need to tell a story of what faith can do.

So this week Sister Stoker and I sent amazingly high goals. We were so pumped and prayed and fasted we would be able to have the energy and excitement to be able to work hard all week and to be lead to those whom are seeking for more peace, direction, and comfort I their lives. On Saturday the beautiful Jocelyn Gellabert came and spent the whole day with us :) we planned that day to find 8 new people to teach- a higher goal than most people achieve in a whole week.

We did everything we were told and were completely on time and obedient. We talked to everyone we saw. We had an amazingly fun day.... But was no where close to our goal. I talked to Stoke ya out it at the end of the day and was actually really sad... I shouldn't be because I learned a lot but I wanted my goal to be reached.

This Sunday (yesterday) she was an incredible example to me of never losing hope. We stopped and talked to someone, and swiftly moved on the the next place we needed to be. Over and over again. I am embarrassed to say had a bad attitude. "We don't even have a member with us, the best people we find with members." My face must have been as sour as my attitude because she began to notice... She assured me we would be blessed.

We walked up to a potential invesitgators door - even though we had just watched him drive away - and knocked in faith. Sister Stoker said out loud "The Utah license plate is their member friend and they've been praying we'll come here to pray with them."

TRUTH! There was a member over visiting because the mother had just lost a son. They had prayed god would send someone to pray for them. It was a miracle. After the lesson, the walk back to the car felt long. My eyes were heavy with tears. Literally I learned that day that every prayer in heard in Gods own time...

I am so blessed. I am grateful for that learning experience and I hope to have many many more!!

I love this mission. I love the gospel. I love Sister Stoker. I love my family, in Oregon AND in Las Vegas. I love the feeling I get when I can't help but smile because I feel the love of a kind and patient Savior.

so it's 100* outside and I had a temperature of 102.6* I guess I just like to match the weather.

This is kind of frustrating... iPads don't save drafts well... So now I am typing this story for the third time.

Anyways: We had a wonderful and fun miracle this week! We were walking on a street in our area contacting some investigators (brag moment: we have 11 investigators on that one street! You best believe it!!) and Sister Stoker and I both looked at a certain house for a few seconds. The impression came to both of us at the same time to knock on the door. This is unusual because we only knock on doors that we have a name for in this mission. But we ignored it after weighing our options. We went around the corner and Elise, an investigator, was busy at the moment. Walking back to our car we passed the house again! This time there were TWO cars in the drive way. I wish I could have recorded this experience. It was surreal how we both knew and without words walked to the door.
Guess who answers? ED! We are now teaching Ed and his wife... But I don't want to jump ahead.

*knock, knock*
"HONEY! The Mormon tabernacle choir just knocked at our door! Angles, please come in, what brings you here today?"

He sounds like a member huh? Well that's what we thought. But he is just a kind man that knows a lot of members of the church. He talked about his "spiritual journey" and was opening up so much that he cried. He gave us a Jesuit cross from the early 1800s because he say "Christs eyes" are in ours. Isn't that so crazy? I am alllllllllllllll about inspired knocking now. I am really grateful that Heavenly Father trusts us enough to be sent to His children who are prepared! The church is true, that's for sure!!

I loved this week, despite the food poisoning... Hahaha. We reached all of our goals. And I slept for 18 hours one day. I feel like a whole new person. I love where I am, and what I am doing! :)

Dear the entire Northwest, I CAN ACTUALLY TAN! :)

So... I'm sure all of you have read the article Sister Stoker and I are in. Anyway, there is a part when I simply joke about a "complimony" which is a combination of a compliment and a testimony... Naturally. We share it all the time as our dinner thought! There is actually a missionary, Ammon, in the Book of Mormon that uses a complimony. He is serving a King, King Lamoni. While he is watching their sheep and robbers come and try to scatter them so they can take them for their own. Ammon is so faithful to the king that he cuts the arms off all the robbers! When the King finds out about this heroic event he calls Ammon in to speak with him. Ammon testifies that The Lord gave him the strength and essentially goes on to teach him the whole gospel of Jesus Christ. The king is so full of he spirit that he PASSES OUT. When the queen hears this, she wants to know about what he learned. She is so ready to accept all the teachings ( we call that Golden ) that she just listens and soaks it all in!
Here's the complimony!!! (Alma 19:10) "and Ammon said unto her: blessed art thou because of thy exceeding faith; I say unto thee, woman, there has not been such great faith among all the people of the [nation]." Here he makes her feel like $1,000,000 while also teaching her the very basics of our faith- we believe in Jesus Christ.
So all of you can put this in your belt of how to share what you know to be true with all your friends :) Here are a few examples:
You spend so much time with your family. I am so glad I have an example like you to know how to treat my family the way God would want us to treat our families.
Boy you are so cute! You would look so cute sitting next to me at church on Sunday ;) hahahaha. Alright, that one is for Eli. You can use that one on all the ladies!

Invite your friends to church- they deserve it :)
I WILL HAVE TWO NEW NEPHEWS THIS MONTH. I love you all and I wish you the best of luck :) see you on SUNDAYYYYYYYYY

My mission is just one big YOLO.

Due to a little incident I am hanging out in Black Mountain Stake. I am sure that I will be back to Anthem soon, probably later today. BUT.. Let me tell you about my crazy week.
Last Monday was Sister Stoker's birthday. It was a fun day full of fast blessings. Mom- thank you so much for the pedicures. The three of us felt SO pampered!! :) I loved to be able to spoil her...  and get a little spoiled myself.
This week I wasn't feeling very good so we were in for a day. Needless-to-say, my eyebrow are tweezed, the house is clean, the area book is updated, the sisters we go on exchanges with all have little gifts in the mail and more! haha. I am feeling much better now. I am actually grateful I got sick when I did because now I am able to be on my A-game for Sister Tu! I love to be here with her and to help.
Last week we went on 3 exchanges and we worked real hard! I want to write about something that happened a few weeks ago though- I was able to go to the temple to do baptisms for the dead with recent converts from Lake Havasu! SEVEN people I taught were there. Jackie just cried and cried as she performed a sacred ordinance for her mother, aunt, and grandmother. She is such an example of diligence. She dove head first into being a member of Christ's church and there is no stopping her. I look up to her! I want to regain the excitement that I had for LIVING the gospel, not just sharing it.
Anyways. So many people that I love were there. I remembered a piece of my family.
All of my thoughts are scatter-brained because of a swirling that has happened to me and my companion. I will be able to sit down next week and unload to all of you, I am sure. Until then I am working hard to get lots and lots of work done!
I love this gospel. I love Sister Stoker, I love the leaders in this mission and I am beyond grateful for all the learning I have done here in Las VEGAS!

THERE IS A HIGHLIGHT OF MY WHOLE LIFE IN THIS ONE!

So this is a slow computer- BUT I AM SO GRATEFUL TO BE ABLE TO HEAR FROM MY FAMILY EVERY WEEK!!! What a blessing it is to live in a time where I can instantly talk to my loved ones!
Today is Sister Stoker's birthday. This morning I looked at my watch 15 minutes before comp study was supposed to end and said "OH NO! We're going to be late- put your shoes on." Really there wasn't a set time to go I just wanted to make it more exciting. We went to the Cupcakery and I had called before and ordered a little box for her. It was really cute! (Because these computers aren't working the best we are going to email now and send pictures later today...) After that we picked up a frappacino from Starbucks and now we are emailing. After this we are leaving to get pedicures and going to the Cheesecake Factory with Sister Lee (LOVE HER). It is just going to be a day full of surprises and fun!! Sister Stoker is so sweet to me so we are aiming to make this the best day ever!!
This week was exciting with exchanges. I spent a day with Sister Lowry and Sister Nilson. Sometimes my favorite thing about exchanges is just to talk about how we have real life problems. I have learned this week that it is alright to have a bad day every once in a while as long as you turn to the Lord for every second of it!! In Sister Nilson's area (called Lake Mead) we were role playing in the morning using a "blessing contact" and Sister Nilson played the investigator. After I asked her "What feels different than from when we started talking?" She said that the room looks a little lighter. Then we were talking to someone that day, asked the same question and he WORD FOR WORD SAID THE EXACT SAME THING!!! You best believe that we smiled so wide- the Lord REALLY prepares people to receive His message. I know it!
ALSO------ BEST PART OF THE WHOLE WEEK------ WE WENT TO LUNCH WITH SISTER NEIDER BUT IT GETS BETTER! We were talking about some sisters that were struggling with certain problems, asking for advice and things like that. We all were talking about what our responsibilities are and how best we should be accomplishing them. I loved hearing her words of wisdom about following up. She also applied EVERYTHING we talked about to marriage and family. ("Salt Lake says we need to tell you that you will be real people again one day," she says) I love Sister Neider with my whole heart! Anyways... We were talking when she all the sudden brings up the article (which everyone in the world and their mom wants to talk to us about, which is nice... but Sister Stoker quotes it "Fields, tall and outgoing radiates confi..." ALRIGHT HUSH!)
Side note: Sister Stoker and I just switched computers and this one is bigger... I thought I wrote a lot more than I did. Whoops.
BACK TO THE STORY!! Sister Neider said that she was reading the comments and "not all of them are nice, sisters..." She went on to explain that the ordained women were a little upset I was talking about Humility and said that it was stupid to ask a sister to do that and blah blah blah... WELL THEN SHE SAYS

WELL... WHEN I WAS TALKING TO DAVID BEDNAR ABOUT IT........

and so that happened. We are pretty much best friends. I just wanted all of you to know about this!

With all my love,
and off to have fun
